(not so)Eventful evening at Family Roos

Yes my mother always said my middle name was Grace.

After a quite enjoyable evening with all the girls with whom i went to france with, I peacefully took the 9:15 bus home, arriving in Domsten at 9:40, arriving at my home at 9:45

I open the door, step in, with no one greeting me, not even Remi. Both the cars were in the drive way, but there was not a noise in the peaceful house. I called out hej hej, with no reply I assumed that the family was out walking lilla Remi.

I trample around the house, tidying my room, doing some dishes for about 30 minutes...
without really thinking about the fact they've been gone for an unusually long time for an evening promenade, i turn on my stereo mediocrally loud... u know, with intentions of jamming to some Kj.

Well to my suprise... family roos is at home, all in their beds, peacefully sleeping.

Phillip made that definately clear to me, when yelling at me for being so loud.

Needless to say, don't assume your host family isn't home... (even though I had perfect grounds too seeing as there were several things that lead me to believe that ie. the fact they never go to bed before 10:15 everyday)

but yeah, I went to bed right away... haha, without even brushing my teeth. I didn't even make a peep.

But yeah, it was funny... I'm a clutz and my dad would know what they were frustrated about if he recalls my morning escapades before school (slamming cupboards and doors and singing and showering really loud)

But i have yet to see family roos, I will today... heheheheh... oh the joys of having an exchange student.

but if that was me i wouldnt care, but they're a little pompous. In a perfectly fine way, but it's just that something like that would bother them. hehehe...

Farmer .RAR

Farmer Rachelle... not pippi longstocking Rachelle....

Okay so I didn't end up being Pippi Longstocking due to a slight miscalculation of thigh size on my part.
The main part of my costume did not fit... so we went the other way.
I was a farmer... with a cow... and a flask... and I looked super cute.
It was a fun Masquerade, I have to say that I was happily pleased by the participation of the
Swedish young public in the dressing up. I wasn't expecting everyone to be dressed up.
I was kind of thinking, oh maybe it will be one of those typical exchange student things where someone tells you to dress up and you come and everyone is not dressed up. But luckily I got ready with Isabell before so I knew at least one other person would be.

Well Happy Birthday Carolina... Fun Saturday night. And tonight off to another party, for all the ladies who went to France with me. We are having a wine and cheese night at Sara's home.

Good Day.

3 months in Sweden!

3 months in Sverige.
wow time has flown by. That mean's only 9 more months left until I go home! haha... oh man, I think this year is going to go by lightening speed. Especially is I keep up with the amount of things I've been doing.

Yesterday I went to Sara's birthday party and it was a lot of fun. Now I am actually preparing to go out to a masquerade (the swedes call it but it's actually just a costume party) And I'm being Pippi Longstocking! I have the costume and everything, I just gotta work on the hair... I don't know what to use to make it stick out.

Everything else is good for me. I tried water pipe for the first time. It's really popular here and the Swedes do it all the time. There's even a club in my school for water pipe. Like they have a picture in the year book and everything. It was nice, relaxing to just hang out and smoke the pipe hahaha. (don't worry it's just flavored tabacco, nothing bad for you for those of you who don't know what it is)

I got Aurillac pictures on the computer so stand by and I will put them up on my Piczo website.

I miss you all! Take care!

Friday...

this is sara... isn't she a doll? lol.

Dear Blog

Today is Sara's birthday party.
Yesterday was Josephines birthday (classmate)
We went out for drinks, and I finally got to show my ID saying im 18! yippee!
I had fun.
I am back from Aurillac France. It was very beautiful there, I have ton's of good pictures, and stories... that I will be sure to share with you all.
I am back to france in 6 days...
time is flying by.
Tomorrow is the 3 month mark for me... I can't believe 1/4 of my year is already passed.
Time flys when you're having fun!

Today is my newfound friend's, Sara, my replacement Sara for the year I guess hehe, 18th birthday party.
Well not for the year as she is moving to South Africa January 4th, but only for 6 months so I will see her when she gets back.
But I will go there tonight,
and unfortunately wont be able to go to Höör tomorrow to bid adieu to Claire (an australian Rotary student who is going home on Sunday as her exchange isn't going so well in Höör) but I am going to my classmate Caroline's 18th birthday party Masquerade. Not sure what I'm going to wear yet, maybe I'll be a Canadian flag, seeing as I have a lot of those, I can make a nice canada dress hehe.

Well I will upload pictures from Aurillac today after town, as I need to print some off for Sara's party, so check back soon!

Hope everyone is doing good. Thanks for all your birthday wishes!

Love,

Rachelle

HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Just as I expected I did not have a normal 18th birthday... not like I expected to being half way across the world from all my close friends and family, but it was quite interesting. I got to celebrate it in Saturday October the 7th. I had a little dinner for 8 people and I made a cake. It was really fun, thanks everyone for coming! I'm really glad I got to celebrate it though. On Monday (my actually birthday) I have to say it was pretty interesting. My 18th birthday consisted of ahem ahem, waking up at 4 in the morning. Going to a random forest. Climing up into a tree fort 7 meters high. Starting to hunt at 6 oClock. Killing a moose calf at 8 oClock. Skinning and gutting it till noon. Eating pea soup THEN even more hunting (for wild pigs) from 2-5 oClock. Going home to Domsten, showering then having a dinner of Kebab(donair) and red wine! Oolala. But it's okay as I am off to France today... and I can celebrate there, on the plane or something hehehe!
I know you were all thinking of me... you guys were in my thoughts as well!
Be back from Aurillac France in a week.

Erik Molinder and Quentin LeClaire

I am happy to say that on Sept. 29th I got a visit from two really special people.
Quentin and Erik were both my really good friends in Canada (Erik is from Vänersborg, Sweden and Quentin is from Dunkerque, France) and they both came to stay with me in little Domsten for the weekend.
It was an awesome weekend, and I can't wait to see them again!

Marie-Louise and Rachelle... the brats re-unite!

www.rarchelle.piczo.com

Please feel free to check out this website... it's where I am going to have the majority of my pictures if I can't get msn spaces working!
Right now I have up the weekend I spent with my dear Marie-Louise in Denmark!

It was so much fun. We only live a 20 minute ferry ride and 1 hour train ride apart...
Jim think of all the trouble we can get into!
hehehe... but no trouble this weekend. We celebrated her 18th birthday on the thursday and she had a HUGE party on the Saturday evening... with a wonderful dinner and everything. She had about 80 guests in total I bet... with a tent set up and dancing and just hanging out. I am so happy to have been able to share this special occasion with Marie!
I missed you... and I am so happy we'll get to see eachother this year!
Love,
Rachelle

Another health food day with Chloe Curtis.

Not.
After going to the boonies(twice) in search of my dear cellphone, which i found (thank you sweden) we thought we deserved a craptastic meal at IKEA.
Oh okay, so we ate mint marabou before...
blueberry cheesecake, chocolate brownie cake, meatballs, redbeats, potatoes, hotdogs and ice cream were definately still in order.

I like taking the bus 30 minutes simply to go to our dear IKEA.

Well when shall we start our diet..
how about never haha...

Attention: Found Cell Phone

I am now on my way to Busslyplats by Väla to get my cell phone that was thankfully recovered by my new best friend the busschaufför.
I knew that word would come in handy Erik!

All i can say is *hewf* and thank the dear lord!

=D

Copying Chloe and Jule! Good Idea^^

Highlight of September: I had 10000 highlights. Sept was a good month. Going to stay in a castle, going to Maries, Having Quentin and Erik here... Nature camp with other exchange students... It was an amazing month, busy everyweekend.

Challenge of September: So the challenge was 1) not being there for Danielas birthday, and hearing of all my friends moving to their universities and stuff. I mean I am moving, growing and changing too but just not with them. But I am happy for everyone, and glad for their choices for this year! and 2) I guess going to school, well I mean, studying... is hard. I'm doing it, but it's a challenge, but I am reaping the benefits now with my swedish improvement. I guess it was just a challenging month in general though, my first 2 months here and getting accustomed to everything. But It has been good and these challenges are what will make me stronger.

Looking Forward Too: I have tons to look forward to. My birthday October 9th (elk hunting), my birthday dinner celebration Oct. 7th, Going to France with my French class (to Aurillac) Oct. 10- 17th. Sara's birthday party Oct. 20th, Claires going away party Oct. 21st, Tivoli October 19th... France to see my dear Quentin for 10 nights, October 26th, going to see Natalie in PARIS, Halloween in France... involving throwing eggs at Quentin hahaha. What is not to look forward to! Just living a brilliant life in Domsten, travelling, seeing our beautiful world, Experiencing my first taste of France. I am so excited, I know this vacation time will end on November 5th, but I hope then to find more plans hehe!

My Birthday

Okay so... I know it's not the typical 18th birthday,
and maybe not how I would have ever expected to be spending my 18th birthday...
but it is what it is and Yo... who can say they went friggin ELK hunting on their birthday.

Seriously man, leaving at 1 on Sunday night then arriving at 4 and hunting till 18:00 sounds like a glorious day man. No cell phone, toilet, or music...

ahh jag älskar sverige.

hehe.

Well my birthday is October 9th... The big 1-8, think of me in Canada, but don't worry I'm not doing anything too crazy..
just hunting!

Rotary Sweden

Rotary Club Of Helsingborg Landborgen Sweden

I have been lucky enough to attend my Rotary meetings every week and been able to meet many nice Rotarians. I am so extremely pleased with my Councillor, Katarina Olsson. She is very kind and has a great family. I have been able to see her at least once a week. Her son, David, attends my school. . Rotary is quite different here in Sweden, with their main focus on business connections. They do very big work in the social-aid section, but not very community based, as they think that Sweden does a good enough job of taking care of these things so they don’t have to think of it. They have some interesting projects going on that I’d love to tell anyone about if they’re interested.

Sorry

I know, if I have a blog I should keep it updated, but I am not soo good at it, like I thought I would be.
But for all of those who are just dying to see whats going on...haha, probably just you mom, know that it will be completely up to date before I leave to Aullriac France on the 10th of October.
I thought I could do it monthly as I had intentions of making a monthly newsletter but it's too hard cuz the computer can't make pdf and stuff... and I have a lot of pictures, but now I will do it kind of weekly, or when I do things... but i really do hope I can let you know whats going on by updating it before I leave and I will OFCOURSE when I return from the belle pays of France!
ahhh how great!

Anyways thanks to those of you that read this!
Miss you all,
Rachelle
